"Our four-year-old son Ty was diagnosed with Autism three years ago. Before he started at Rockford Hyperbaric, Ty was pretty much in his own world; he would say one word at a time with prompting or pictures, his attention span was very minimal, and he had a hard time sitting and attaching to projects or puzzles. His sleep pattern was always unpredictable, and a good night for him might be six straight hours of sleep. After his first two weeks at Rockford Hyperbaric, Ty was showing great improvements not only to friends and family, but to his teachers and therapist as well. He has started putting three- and four-word combinations together, he can work on shape sorters and puzzles for fifteen minutes at a time, and he'll even sit all the way through his bedtime stories. His teachers report great improvements on eye contact, class participation, and his awareness of what's going on around him. At home, Ty has started to request his needs instead of pulling us to what he wants, and is now sleeping eight to ten hours a night. And last weekend he sat through his first Sunday mass, and was so good!  Ty has really come alive in so many ways, and every day there's something new. He's become a much happier boy. Rockford hyperbaric has been nothing short of a miracle for our family."

"Looking back, I could only imagine what hyperbaric treatment could do for our son Matthew, age 6. We had heard from parents of other autistic children who had received treatment and how they had seen big improvements in many different ways. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, but very hopeful. We came three consecutive times to visit before our treatment actually began and read social stories over the weekend. Matthew was very uneasy during the three visits, however, when Monday arrived he jumped right up on the bed and slid into the tube to watch his movie. This was very unexpected by all of us. He enjoyed his time in the chamber and the eight weeks flew by.  Around the third and fourth week, we started to notice minor things. We thought perhaps his sentencing structure had improved. By the sixth week, that was when we really started to notice big changes. Matt wanted to start eating at the kitchen table with us. Instead of breaded chicken, he devoured a sizeable portion of rotisserie chicken. He has never had much of an appetite for meat, so you could only imagine our surprise when he ate a healthy portion of turkey and beef on separate occasions for the first time.  Over Christmas break it was decided by Matthew’s team at school that he would be eligible for extended school year, due to task related behavior issues. We are only a month out of treatment and unfortunately he won’t be receiving it because we don’t have behavior problems anymore. He now has the ability to accept the task he is asked to do and complete it with great success. Everyone agreed that he is a lot less tense and can stay focused for long periods of time. In the past, Matt was only required to complete parts of writing assignments because it was very difficult and frustrating for him. Now, he does not accept that anymore and wants to complete the task just as his classmates are doing. Needless to say, my skepticism is gone and our family is excited to see all the changes that are still to come. We are really enjoying having conversations with him that don’t have to end in a “Yes” or “No” response. It’s really fun to see how much he has changed in such a short period of time."

RSD Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy

I had a spinal surgery that resulted in a complication called RSD.

"I had spinal surgery that resulted in a complication called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a chronic pain disorder involving the sympathetic nervous system. In my case the RSD affected my foot, causing unbearable pain. The pain was so severe that all aspects of my life were overtaken by it, and at times I thought I could not endure another day. I was unable to work and I could not function even in the simplest of daily activities. I could no longer walk on my own, my sleep was interrupted by pain, and I was unable to so much as sit in a chair without the fear that a my foot would be accidentally touched by a family member.

Medical doctors masked the pain with pain medication. This only took the edge off, but the pain was still very prominent. After some extensive research on RSD, I knew I had to take a proactive approach to this condition. I knew that I needed to find a permanent solution right away, as my research had concluded that RSD can be permanent, and can also spread to other parts of the body. And without a permanent solution, I would need to be on high dose narcotics or a morphine pump for the rest of my life. As I was not finding relief with medication, I knew that I had to find an alternative.

While researching the topic on the Internet, I found that some patients had good and permanent results when their RSD was treated with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. After further study and a consultation with Rockford Hyperbaric, I decided to give the treatment a try.

I went to the first appointment walking with a cane and unable to bend my toes; the pain in my foot was intolerable. During this first session I was actually pain free, and after the treatment my pain level was dramatically reduced. I walked out of the session with great improvement, not using my cane, and I had even regained some range of motion in all of my toes. I had been told that it usually takes 10 to 20 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy sessions to see a difference, but I could not believe my results after just the first couple of treatments.

I have now had 20 sessions and have reduced all of my pain medications. I am able to walk like a normal man and have gone back to all of my pre-surgery and pre-RSD activities of life. I attribute all of this success to the hyperbaric chamber. I tell everyone I come in contact with about my success. It has truly brought my life back to normal. "

Cerebral Palsy

Gianna (our inspiration to open the clinic) has started her latest round of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy here in Rockford.  She is taking the month of November off to go to Mexico and have stem cell therapy.  This is what her Mom had to say about how our therapy accelerates the healing process for her:

"Our daughter Gianna (now two years old) was born with a lack of oxygen at birth due to a rare complication during pregnancy called Vasa Previa.  Doctors gave us little hope for our daughter.

With much support of family, friends and the community Gianna has been able to undergo many non-traditional treatments such as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.  Nothing we've tried has shown as many improvements as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for our daughter.  We always say that she does not have the “tunnel look” anymore.  We have completed around 200 treatments to date and will continue to see that number grow.  We started therapy in Madison and just recently were able to continue much closer to home when Rockford was blessed to have a center open.  We are very excited that the center will be able to benefit people in our community.

We have noticed many improvements with Gianna.  Just recently we were told by one of her physical therapists that they have noticed a difference in her head control, eye contact and trunk control.  We are so happy with her improvements and know we will continue with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is nothing short of a miracle for many families.  Thank you Rockford Hyperbaric for making so many people's dreams become realities"

Sports Injury

"After sustaining a broken clavicle, scapula, two ribs and a punctured lung, I decided to try Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy due to my frustration with the slow healing process (approximately two months after the accident). After my first treatment I had the best night's sleep I've had since the accident. The decrease in the amount of soreness was accelerated following physical therapy and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy compared to physical therapy without Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Also general soreness was lessened significantly. I received four treatments total within the time frame of one week.

It would be impossible to tell if the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has accelerated my healing process but I am convinced that is not a coincidence that my overall soreness and that following physical therapy was greatly decreased while receiving Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, which enabled me to work out more frequently."
